What I REALLY should be doing...

...is getting ready for tomorrow!! What a CRAZY weekend I have ahead of me--totally full of scrap!

First though, Katie is going to camp AGAIN! She was the TOP cookie seller in our Girl Scout Service area and the SECOND highest Brownie seller in all of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties combined. COMBINED! Since she sold over 1000 boxes, she is a member of he 1000+ club and is going to a special camp weekend just for all the 1000+ girls! How fun! She has to BE THERE at 8am tomorrow. Yikes. I need to get to bed!

Anyways, on to the scrappy stuff!

Tomorrow is Scrapbook Royalty's An Angel's Legacy Crop to benefit 4RKids'Sake and support Kaitlyn's Law. Okay, that was a mouthful! The crop is in Corona, CA from 11am-11pm. I'll be teaching a class in the early afternoon, my cute little vacation book, sponsored by Scrappin' Good Times. Trish, the owner of SGT, was totally generous in donating all the supplies for the project and in letting me have free reign over the design. So it is a really fun project as a result!

I'll be there ALL DAY LONG with my friends at Scrapbook Royalty. I'm gonna try to sneak in some cropping. I have a big bin of scraps and the plan is to make a boatload of cards out of them as my card stash is getting low and my scrap stash is seriously HIGH. Hopefully I'll make a dent in it.

THEN, I have my "Our Little Monster" class on Sunday at Scrappin' Good Times. I just finished the add-ons kits for this class tonight--they are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!! Love them! I had to make extras so I'd be sure to get one. I STILL have 2 spots left (I can't believe it) so if you wanna get in, do it now! Instructors, if you wanna trade kits with me, LMK!

I got these super fun foam monsters to make my add-ons with (and they're acid-free too). I didn't even make a DENT in the box so I have tons left. They are really cute and VERY Monsters, Inc. If you want a RAK of them. just leave me a comment here with your email addy so I can get your snail mail addy from ya. If I already have your addy, then just let me know if you want some monster. Gotta spread the monster love you know!

Well, before this crazy weekend has even STARTED I feel like I need to go to a crop just to crop, just for ME. No work, no classes, no cutting for classes....JUST to crop. Don't get me wrong; I love all this teaching and being all involved in things, helping with Scrapbook Royalty stuff, hanging out at Scrappin' Good Times...it's super fun! But I just need some me time--like to get reconnected with why I am involved with and love this crazy hobby!

And I think it would be a good opportunity for Katie and I to spend some time with just her and I. Matt is kind of tied to my hip, you know. So she doesn't get alot of one-on-one anymore.

I don't have any more classes until mid-September so next week I plan on pulling out my page kits, ordering pics from Snapfish, getting Katie's stuff organized, and getting ready to crop. I don't know where or when I'll crop but I am GONNA CROP! I'm gonna find some crops to go to and sign up. I already know I am going to the Scrapbook Royalty crop in November--maybe I'll do both November crops! And once I go, I'm just gonna crop like there's no tomorrow!!

So if you're cropping this weekend, just know I am jealous! But have fun and maybe I will see you there!

Dingy Fonts

I have always loved fonts and have a SERIOUS downloading addiction. I only have just under 1600 fonts downloaded and operable right now because I did some major spring cleaning in my fonts folder. ONLY 1600.

My favorite site to download from is dafont.com. Once you go, you know. And unlike SteinMart, the price is always right---FREE!

Since I got a Quickutz Silhouette, the addiction has gotten WAY WAY WAY worse! There are some many cute dingbats, web-dings, or whatever you wanna call them...fonts where when you type in a letter, a shape or image is displayed. The Silhouette will CUT THESE OUT. How cool is that!!

I figured I'd share some of my favorites--you can google the name to find out where to download them for free. I'm cheap. I'd never pay for a font even if my life depended on it. But I will donate if the artist asks. This guy Larabie (cannot remember his first name) asks for donations and he has some of THE BEST fonts out there.

Here's some of my favorite dingbat fonts:

  • Tombats (This guy Tom has a whole array of tombats fonts with fun little shapes--I used the tombots font & tweaked it a little to make the monster in my "Our Little Monster" book class on Sunday)
  • Katlings or any font with "KR" in front. The girl who makes these is named Kat (I think). She has a whole line of fonts called Katlings and some very very cute other dingbats and sayings fonts.
  • The Kids (cutesy faces)
  • Superstar DJ (very fun circles and such)
  • Garanimals
  • Pizza Dude--this guy's fonts rock!!! I love the Pizzadudepointers, which are arrows, and pizzadudestars.
  • LP Flowers (nice, flourishy flowers)
  • WC Fetish Bra -- Every kind of shoe imaginable!
  • Seeing Stars (Very Junkitz looking distressed and retro stars)
  • Armada Pirata -- pirate ships galore!
Well, that's enough of my "secrets" for tonight! LOL Have fun downloading! Oh and you can print these bad boys to use in your scrapbooks too besides just cutting them--pretty cool...

Art Journal Challenge

Okay. I'm gonna do it. I saw the link (http://embers.typepad.com/e/mini_art_journal_challenge/index.html) on Adriann's awesome blog. She created some great projects. I'm not into all that artsy fartsy stuff *no offense* but Adriann's take on the challenges really made me see that it's all about making it yours and you can have clean lines and still address the challenge. So here I go...anyone wanna join me?

Monster Madness, Royalty Is In Town, and It's All Fancy!!

I've been knee deep in goOgLy eyes prepping for my "Our Little Monster" class coming up this SUNDAY at Scrappin' Good Times. The book is soooo cute, full of crazy eyes, cute "monster" sayings, and hilariously fun Sassafrass Lass papers. I've been making the add-on kits as well (4 additional pages, already assembled and INKED) to sell during the class and they are C-U-T-E! Here's a photo of the mayhem in my scrap area:

I only have
3 spaces left for the "Our Little Monster" class so don't miss out! Call Scrappin' Good Times at 909-305-0748 to sign up--or better yet, stop in to sign up and be sure to check out the TONS of new stuff coming in from Summer CHA!

But monsters aren't the only thing I'm up to this week! I've prepared some awesome kits for my class at Scrapbook Royalty's Crop in Norco, California this SATURDAY. Scrappin' Good Times is sponsoring my class so you KNOW it is going to be great! I have designed an adorable island themed mini book using banker's envelopes and clear covers (see sample photo). We'll be playing with acrylic paints too! Nan from the Zutter Zisters and one of the talented ladies from Scrapbook Royalty will also be teaching some awesome classes--all included free as part of the croppin' fun!

It is NOT too late to sign up for this AWESOME crop!

Just go to Scrapbook Royalty's Website to sign up. Please join us for 12 hours of croppin', auctions, yummy food, and fun classes to raise money to support 4RKids'Sake. I recently read the story of the little girl behind Kaitlyn's Law and the foundation of 4RKids'Sake. You would think that not leaving a baby alone in a car on a hot day is common sense but Kaitlyn's story, and hundreds of others are testament to the need for education in this area. And that is what 4RKids'Sake is all about. Please come out and show your support! For more details, see Scrapbook Royalty's Website.

Speaking of Scrapbook Royalty, Elena, the founder and creative energy behind these awesome crops for causes, is going to be a GUEST Instructor on September 12th at SCRAPPIN' GOOD TIMES! Her project is so adorable, title "It's All Fancy". Talk about fun--Elena's projects are colorful and fun, just like her teaching style. You WILL have a blast in her class--she is in high demand all over southern California and teaches at upwards of 10 stores. Plus Quick Quotes has obtained her as a teacher at their Expo classes because she is so fun and talented. Take this opportunity to take one of her signature "fancy" classes while she is here in town. Check out the SAMPLE.
