Mission: Organization

Organizing is just a continual activity when you are a scrapbooker. On scrapbook.com, a forum I frequent, there are new topics daily about how to organize x-y-z item out of your stash....You buy, you pile, you stash...then you organize! And reorganize. And reorganize. I think this is the 12th time I have reorganized. What kind of hobby requires all this continual revamping of supply and tool organization?!?

I started organizing by color and by alpha about a year and half , almost 2 years ago. I have all "cool" colored ribbons in one drawer, all orange buttons in one jar, all "A" chipboard and metal letters in one drawer...somehow, somewhere, it has all gotten into disarray...

A few weeks ago Julie Johnson, a fellow instructor at Scrappin' Good Times, was helping Trish (SGT owner) organize her personal scrap stash all by color. Each color of embellies was in a bin. Everything was removed from its package and put into various sized ziploc style baggies or small containers. I like the concept but the idea of the amount of time it would take to transfer everything to little baggies left a bad taste in my mouth. Instead I was glad to take all of Trish's empty bottles and such off her hands! Hello, Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers...

Anyways, Ive been dabbling with this idea, trying to think of a way to make it work for me. So I have decided to organize all my drawers by color. Instead of 6 ribbon drawers, 1 flowers drawer, and 3 embellies drawers, I'm going to have an "Orange Drawer" and a "Red Drawer" and so on. SOME stuff is going to go into little baggies. Julie said it is easier to see stuff that way and I do agree but those little baggies...uuggh! I just don't like little baggies! So I am going to use some of my crafts mates instead!

I'm going to label my drawers like Jessica Sprague does. Check out her room in her BLOG.

Love the little colors on the labels so that is what I am going to do! So if you don't hear from me it is because a couple cubes fell on me and I am stuck under a pile of buttons and paper. Please send a rescue party!

Sneak Peeks!!!

Okay, here's the scoop on my Scrappin' Good Times Classes for November and December:

One of the layouts for "Holidays In A Day" on November 1:

PJ and I are doing this AWESOME "Birthday Calendar" class together on November 7th. The pages are envelopes and inside each one is a card to mark birthdays for each month of the year. It sits upright so you can use it on your desk or display on a tabletop or mantle. Pretty cool...would be a great gift too. It's loaded to the max with flowers, buttons, chipboard, brads, and more. Here's the page for May:

You know that "Our Family Story" book I designed a while back, full of chipboard and Daisy D's papers? Well, PJ and I teamed up to teach it in December as a class--that's right, you can MAKE it yourself!!! December 2nd, so don't miss out. This would be a perfect gift for the person who has everything (because they don't have this book! LOL):

And finally, here's a sneak peek at my add-on for "Six Months In A Day-Part II":

(pic to follow--I'm kind of tired so I'll post it tomorrow)

It's a 4x6 mini book with 12 inner pages--one for each month of the year. Put some wallet pics in it and BAM--instant Christmas gift or brag book!! And it is totally, completely done, just add pics. If you want one but can't make it to the class, let me know and I tell ya what to do to get one. Just email me at jenniferppriest@yahoo.com. I only made 6 and I 'm keeping one so that takes it down to 5... Oh and, as always, my add-ons always differ a little from one to another so get to class early to check them out and get first dibs.

Hope to see ya soon! And shhhh.....this is only a little itty bitty sneak peek. Full samples can be seen at the class kickoff on Friday Oct 5 at SGT.

P.S. There's only one spot left for "Six Months In A Day Part II" on October 7--you'd better hurry!! I still have one kit left from Part I if anyone is interested.

And only 3 spots left for "Our Little Angel" on October 11....you get a FULL sheet of Hambly journaling overlays and a FULL pack of antique banners rub-ons...

Can't make it? Get a kit! I'll do any stamping for you and leave the kit for you to pickup at the store.

I'm A Winner!

Hehe. I won! Thanks so much Trisha for calling me this morning because I did not even have a minute to check my email until this evening. And thanks Gilby for posting it here. I won the Tinkering Ink $50 Gift Basket from the So Cal Shop Hop!! When I get it I will surely post pics of my goodies. I don't know how I'll get it but hopefully I'll hear from them soon. Woohoo!! I've been wanting to get my hands on some of their products for some time so I can't wait to see what they send.

Time Just Keeps On Flyin!

It has been a week since I blogged?! Wow. Well, the house STILL is not clean (big surprise, right?). I've been having fun playing with all my new scrap stuff from Shop Hop! It's all fun but when you have scraps of paper stuck to the bottom of your flip flops, well it is a sign that maybe it is time to vacuum....just maybe...

Well, besides cleaning my house, I've got a few classes and events coming up so stop by to say hi or join me!

Saturday September 29:
I'll be at Desert Scrappers Retreats teaching 2 classes. "Holiday Cheer" is $18 and is a complete mini book. "Playful" is a 2 page layout using felt and fun diecuts. I may have kits leftover after the retreat so if you are interested, please let me know!

Friday October 5:
Class Kickoff at SGT. I just might have a make n take. Plus you can get a sneak peek at the add-ons for some of my classes in October--they are awesome, first-come first-served, AND anyone can buy them, even if you are not in the class. Hint: One of them is a COMPLETED mini book which would make an AWESOME Christmas gift!

Saturday October 6:
I'll be cropping all day with the Who Gives a Scrap? Group in San Bernardino in honor of National Card-Making Day. I'll be making Christmas cards to send to Scrapbook Royalty--they are sending the cards to US soldiers in Iraq so they have cards to send home to their families over the holidays. Check out the info on their blog and website. If you'd like to join us, check our group out at WhoGivesaScrap

Sunday October 7:
Six Months In A Day Part II at Scrappin' Good Times. I still have a couple of openings. This is your very last chance EVER to make 12 pages in one sitting. That's right, I won't be doing this class at Scrappin' Good Times again so make sure you take advantage of this awesome deal. Most layout classes have ONE two page layout for $20-25. You get SIX two pagers in this class for $50. I will do kits for this one--if you want a kit, let me know and I'll do the stamping for you and put it in the hold bin.

Thursday October 11:
Our Little Angel 6x6 book. This is the third book in my "Our Little..." series so don't miss out. It's full of great accents and can be for a teenager, husband, couple, or anyone who rocks your world. I happen to have baby pictures in the sample. Plus we'll be using the SGT exclusive die!

Saturday October 20:
12 Hour crop at Scrappin' Good Times. Join me to crop and have a great time!

Well, Matthew is crawling off to get into some of my paper so off I go!! Chat with ya later!
