Lots of great things are going on right now. Here's what I've been doing and am up to this week:
Today I cropped with the ladies from Who Gives A Scrap?---so much fun!! I made 77 cards---SEVENTY SEVEN!!!! I'll be sending those off to Scrapbook Royalty tomorrow!!
Tomorrow I'll be teaching my Six Months In A Day class at Scrappin' Good Times for the last time ever so don't miss out. There was still ONE spot left last time I checked...
But first I'll be heading over to Victor Valley Christian Church for our annual Health and Wellness Expo! We've got carseats, blood pressure screenings, social services, the fire department, and more, all to promote health and wellness in the community. EVERYONE is welcome to attend! So please come up to Hesperia to take advantage of this awesome event--you won't want to miss it.
That's all for now--I'll be taking pics of the cards I made and posting them soon. Plus I'll take pics of the 27 cards the customers and instructors of Scrappin' Good Times made to help out Scrapbook Royalty's cause! Way to support the troops!

Cards for a Cause
In honor of National Cardmaking Day on October 6th, I am participating in collecting holiday cards for Scrapbook Royalty. Here's what they are doing (from their website):
October 6th is National Card Making Day! In honor of one of our favorite pastimes and to honor the service men and women overseas, Scrapbook Royalty will be hosting a card making campaign. We would like you to send us a card and envelope to mail to troops who will not be home for the holidays so they in turn can send cards home to their families. These need to be blank holiday cards and should be designed to give to family/loved ones. Scrapbook Royalty will send these cards to the troops so they will have holiday greetings to send home!
Here's what I'm doing:
On Tuesday, Girl Scout Troop 609 made 40 cards to send in!

This Friday, I'll be at the class kickoff at Scrappin' Good Times with a card make n take that I am sponsoring. Make a card for me to send to Scrapbook Royalty and you can make a second to take home for yourself. Here's a pic of the card we'll be making--papers and ribbons will vary asn you can pick your own from my stash!
Saturday I'll be cropping with Who Gives A Scrap? to make cards for the troops.
Then that afternoon I'll be express shipping my cards to Elena at Scrapbook Royalty because they have to arrive there on Monday October 8.
If you have cards you'd like to donate, drop them off to me at the Class Kickoff on Friday. Even just one or two cards will help! Or come to my make n take and help me make cards! Make sure you sign your name on the back!
Join me and jump start your card making this year and make a few cards for the troops!

Wellness Expo
Every year my church, Victor Valley Christian Chruch, does a Wellness Expo. The church Health Ministry wrote some grants to get some great goodies there, like free carseats. The Expo is October 7th from 9am-1pm and anyone can come, even if you don't live in Hesperia and you don't live in San Bernardino County.

They have carseats to give away--last year the CHP was there and they installed my car seat and showed us how to do it correctly. All you have to do is go, write down your name and the age of your child and you get an age appropriate seat (I think you have to live in San Bernardino County for the carseat). Plus there will be radio stations there doing giveaways, blood pressure screenings, all kinds of giveways at the different booths, alot of the social services will be there, the firemen and policemen are there, they had a helicopter the kids could check out last year, they could go on a firetruck, they have the earthquake demo van where you can see how to secure your furniture so it does not fall on you .....there will be a raffle too. (This is what they had last year so I am just going from memory but they told me this year is bigger and better).
It is free to get in -- all you have to do is show up. They will be selling food for cheap--a man at our church used to be a cook and he makes the BEST authentic Philly Cheesesteaks--they'll be selling these with a soda and chips for only $3.
I will be there in the morning. It is from 9am-1pm.
Here's how to get there:
15 Freeway north. Exit Main Street. Turn Right. Take Main Street to 11th street (right after road starts to get curvy) and turn left on 11th (it's a light). Go past one stop sign. The church will be a little further up the road on the right hand side before the second stop sign, on the corner of 11th and Eucalyptus. You'll see a bunch of stuff going on so you can't miss it. Their website is http://www.vvcc.com
I hope to see you there!! Please let me know if you need different directions. The kids have a blast an I learned alot last year when I went. Plus I got a carseat!

Re"TREAT" Yourself!
Yesterday I went down to Desert Scrappers Retreat weekend in La Quinta to teach a couple classes and promote Scrapbook Royalty's upcoming crops. Secretly, I was doing re-con to find out if the retreats are worth going to. The prices are phenomenal from about $150 for a three person room up to $280 if you want a room all to yourself (can bring the family with ya!). SO I was skeptical as to what you would get for the money.
Boy was I surprised!
First of all, the retreat location at the Embassy Suites was in a very nice part of town. There was shopping and excellent restaurants nearby (LG's Prime Steak House!!). Across the street was a gorgeous park where I actually saw people doing wedding photos and next to that a gigantic public library. I know my hubby would love to go there with the kids (he loves to read).
Anwyas, I pull in to the hotel and it is really nice, clean, and ritzy. There was an atrium with a bar in the middle and big screen TVs. The crop room was right off of that, easy access to the bar, to the food, to the elevators--very nice and on the first floor. They were just finishing up lunch and from what I saw, there was a very generous variety of foods to choose from and lots of it.
Here's the details on the crop:
I have been to a full service one before (P.S. Let's Scrap) and that was just an awesome experience. But if small 6 person retreats aren't for you, then Desert Scrappers Retreats are the just the thing!
Hope to see you at one soon.

Here's the details on the crop:
- Everyone had an ENTIRE table to themselves. And WHOLE table!!
- Breakfast, Lunch, and Appetizer/Cocktail Hour are included--you can drink and eat all you want for free.
- Dinner is on you but there was no shortage of good places to eat
- The rooms were very nice suites with room for three people to sleep comfortably (I peeked in one of the cropper's rooms--hehe).
- There are lots of great giveaways all day long-albums, kits, spa certificates to go to the spa there at the resort...
- They raffle off a basket to benefit a charity at each crop--this time they were raffling off a HUGE basket to benefit the Cancer Coping Center.
- There are vendors there if you need adhesive or whatever.
- Classes are offered for 1 hour and under $20 per class--a great idea for a crop because it does not take too much of your cropping time. I taught two classes and had alot of fun.

- Everyone looked like they were having a blast!
