Donors Choose

Wow. Click this link.

I was browsing a scrapbooking forum today and saw a link in a lady's signature. I clicked it. It took me to her page on DonorsChoose.org where she had gotten donations to do a project with her class. "What a cool idea," I thought. So I searched for projects in Southern California. This list came up. And many of them are not even close to being funded.

I would love to choose 1 or 2 or even 10 of these if I could to help. Working with Scrapbook Royalty I've seen how generous people can be when helping others. So I'm going to try to organize something to get donations for these schools and classrooms.

I want to start with these projects, since they are close to my home:

Mesa Grande
Mesquite Trails

These two schools are in my school district--I have substitute taught at both and my daughter attended Mesquite Trails last year. Here's Katie in 2nd grade:

I don't know what I can do because I am by no means rich, but somehow I bet we can do a crop or SOMETHING to help out. So I'm challenging you, if you read this, to go to the site I listed above and find a school and a project in your area. And donate $5. Or $500--whatever you can afford to help out. Get your friends to join in, send the link on to family and friends.

People are good and this is a good way to start off the new year. On a side note, I heard on the news recently about a police sting at a mall. They set up a car, with all the doors unlocked and trunk open, filled with electronics in hopes of catching a thief. Instead, people locked to the doors, closed the trunk, and even went in the store to call the police. It's nice to know that most of us are nice and when faced with a choice, we do the right thing. Just give a little of yourself next year and prove that nice people make a difference!

Bye, bye CTMH...

A few of you have ordered CTMH products from me in the past and I thank you for supporting me!

After alot of reflecting I've decided that I really need to pare things down in my life. I resigned as a consultant a couple of days ago. I love the products and love the company and will totally still continue to buy their awesome stamps and embellishments.

I love teaching scrapbook classes so that is where I want my focus to be as far as a "job". That way I can spend more time with my family, doing the things we love to do together, and making memories that I can scrap! LOL

My new consultant for Close to My Heart is Laura Miller (who owns Desert Scrappers Retreats). Please feel free to order from her now on--I know I will be!! So thank you again to those of you who have ordered from me and helped to support me!!

2008 is Packed with Scrap!

I bought a new calendar for 2008 tonight. As I was transferring my "important dates" from my cheapy little, very unscrappy checkbook calendar to my fancy new engagement calendar (why on earth is it called that?) I started to panic...

What on earth is going on in 2008?!?!

Why are there like 20 events in January?!?!

And why am I going to be at all of them!!??

Because God smiled upon the scrapbooking world and granted us mega-crops and mega-fun for 2008! So for the next 5 weeks please join in the fun at these super fun events!!
  • Desert Scrappers Retreats retreat in Palm Desert, Jan 11-13
  • My first scrap class at Scrapping Lounge, Jan 17 (this is a big deal for me - I'm so excited!)
  • ScrapFest San Diego, Jan 19-20
  • Scrapbook Alley Expo in Ontario, Jan 25-27
  • Scrapping Table Grand Opening, Jan 26, 5-7pm
  • Unforgettables Crop (with Scrapbook Royalty), Jan 26
  • Superbowl Crop at Scrapping Lounge, Jan 27
  • Scrapbook Royalty Crop to benefit Fire Victims in San Diego and in Victorville at Scrapbook Blvd, Feb 2
  • If I missed an event in Southern California during this time, let me know and I'll add it.
This year looks to be the scrappiest yet. And it is my 10 year anniversary of being a scrapper. How sweet it is!

"Our Little Sweetheart" x 2

Hope you all had a great Christmas! Somewhere in there, between the shopping and wrapping paper and mayhem, I managed to design a second version of my "Our Little Sweetheart" class. Xaver helped prep all the kits so it is ready to go!

Version A is being taught at Scrapfest San Diego on January 19, 2008.

Version B is being taught at Scrapbook Alley in Ontario, CA on January 25, 2008.

Both classes have a totally different feel--plus you can customize the title to say anything you'd like. We'll be using different techniques and materials in each class as well. To sign up for either class, just go to the websites of the location at which the class is being taught to register. Hope to see you there!!
