Good Stuff

Well, as you can see I am up at 545am. After several nightmares about not having enough Girl Scout cookies for our booths, I can't sleep. An email was sent late last night that there is only one pallet left of Caramel Delights and Thin Mints for all of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties--yikes! We are almost out of both and have 7 more cookie booths to go. I'm off to buy Sophie Kinsella's new book and go camp out at the cupboard for a few hours. Wanna be first in line! LOL

But before I go, I wanted to post some layouts I had completed recently. I LOVE the new 29th Street Market Paper from MME--and Scrapbook Blvd has the ENTIRE line!! Here's an LO I did for them using it this week:

I did this page this weekend at a crop--the Scrapbook Royalty Fantasyland Crop in San Marcos on Mar 8. I added the chipboard stuff, title, and journaling when I got home. This paper I have LOVED but it is sooo old--from when I went to Survivor Crop in 2005! I finally had a boy so now I can use it--clearing room for new goodies!! And it matches Matt and my carpet (in the pic) pretty well. I also used up some old MM fabric labels. Yes, the pics are of him eating and playing with some of my chipboard diecuts. The boy loves some chipboard!

And as promised about a month ago (I know, I know...) some pics of the Make N Takes I made at CHA!

This was at EK Success' booth--we use their Jolee's Felt Flowers as well as their Painty Pens.

This was the Lil Davis/Fiskars MnT with Michelle Hill. They had like 5-6 MnTs and demos going on at one time--I did not get to see them all :( But Michelle's MnT was fun and we got to try the new Fiskars scalloped border punch on this project.

And here is a snapshot of MOST of the MnTs I did. I could not fit them all in. Clockwise from the top:

Today...

Fiskars training was fun!! Now I am a Certified Fiskars Demonstrator! Thanks again to Vesta for opening up Scrapbook Boulevard for us to have the training there. She helped put the word out and in less than 24 hours we got 7 people to sign up for the training! Thanks also to Amyre for taking the time on her BIRTHDAY (she didn't tell anyone!!) to train us all on Fiskars' tools. I am sooo buying the rotary trimmer with the interchangeable blades--SB Blvd ordered them for us so I can't wait!

I also sold some more GS cookies--woohoo!! I have to go get more in the AM...

And I turned in my May class sample at the Lounge. I forgot to take pics but it is a banner using Graphic 45's newest paper line--it is vintage, shabby, and deliciously over the top. We'll be using REAL 100 year old vintage buttons I got from my great grandma's collection, tons of Heidi Swapp bling, and even some hand glittered feather butterflies!! I took a step outside of my box to create this one a kind and super fun banner. And did I mention it is DOUBLE SIDED and customizable??! We will create the entire alphabet, and then some, do you can customize the banner to any occasion all year long. Class cost is $35.

I've been scrapping too--just haven't had time to upload pics but I'll do my best to get them done soon!

That's all for now...off to bed.

Projects from Saturday and some freebies!!

First I have to show you all the fun little tags I made for each of our WhoGAS members:

We wore them on our shirts to show that we were more extra super special than everyone else! LOL I put them in a mini takeout box filled with candies, a granola bar, and these super cute easter eggs I got at Target shaped like hippos, carrots, and frogs. People kept coming over and trying to sit at our table when they were coming in the door, trying to find a seat--hehehehe--but it was RESERVED! LOL

FINALLY, Here are the two class projects I took!!

After receiving several phone calls yesterday and today from concerned blog readers asking when I would be putting these pics up, I figured I'd better get on the ball, even if the light for taking pics is less than stellar right now...thanks for lighting a fire under me! LOL

First from Stephanie Ackerman of Home & Heart Magazine--we made these books using big playing cards (not the HS ones tho). It was super fun, fast and easy to do--she did all the stamping for us already too! And made these fun paper flowers for us that were on the covers of each book--so fun. She is so nice and easy to talk to ... it was just very relaxing and enjoyable. PLUS, see my name on the cover?? She doodled a name tag for each and every person there!! She is just simply amazing. She is selling the extra kits in her Etsy store so I am not posting all the pics--just the cover. All the money she raises from selling the kits on Etsy will be donated to Scrapbook Royalty as well!!

The other class I took was from Michelle Hill of Polka Dot Whimsy. We did a cute little mini book--I think she used stuff from 10 different companies in it but it all worked--that girl knows how to choose and match colors--wow! I added some extra "doo-dahs" of my own but overall it is the same book we did in class. Enjoy!

This is the cover. Michelle's title was "So Silly" but I used "Together" and made some other subtle changes to fit what pics I knew I was going to use later. I used stickles in the letters--in the class we used glitter but I did not know which letters I was going to use yet so I just put them on at home. The chipboard shape is from my stash, made by SEI. We sanded all the edges of the pages--one of Michelle's fave techniques she said.

We had too much good stuff in here--I punched bigger holes in some sequins Michelle gave us and put them on the binder ring between these two pages. Stuff from my stash: Epoxy bracket & circle sticker (Best Creation), Sticker (SEI)

We coated a chipboard piece in glue and Michelle had these bowls filled with yummy glitter--we dipped the chip piece in the bowl to coat--very fun. Stuff from my stash: Making Memories Epoxy Tag

Here we strung cool beads on a stick pin--we were supposed to stick it in all the ribbons we tied on the binder ring holding the book together--I stuck it in this fat ricrac instead. Stuff from my stash: Epoxy tag is from Making Memories, Big blue button from MME, bling from Kaiser Craft, Paint from Ranger.

Used more epoxys from my stash from Making Memories and Best Creation on this page when I got home. We sanded the Elsie paper in class to show the pattern.

Just the back:

Look at how thick this bad boy is from the side!! Chock full of goodness!

I would have taken the other classes but honestly I did not have time--they were all awesome and fun projects and they were all free! And they had GOOD stuff in them too!

Finally, the freebies!! I was reading Kristin Hayne's blog tonight and she said that Scrap N Fonts has 20 free fonts. I went over and got mine for free, plus a few others, like one that Kristin designed called CK June Bug Louise that is on their TOP 10 best sellers page!! Woohoo for Kristin! And thanks for sharing those free fonties!

Wow

First of all, I cannot believe I am up this early since it REALLY is 7:30am! LOL I got home at 2:15 am last night--Yes, I had planned to stay in San Diego for the night at a friend's house but I drank so much caffeine that I was up for trying to get home. I did really well, chatting with the hubby on the phone all the way home and only got drowsy for the last 10 miles home. Katie passed out on the passenger seat in the car!

Here is how my day started: We got up at 430am!! Katie was so excited she got ready super fast which was nice. Silly me, I forgot they were closing the 215 freeway to do bridgework this weekend so I got caught up in that traffic on the way down--luckily we still made it there before 8am so we could help with some of the set up.

Our group, Who Gives A Scrap?, had our very own table and then some! I we had 13 members show up plus our fabulous and fun table fairy godmother Crazy Rachel! SO some of our ladies were off at another table right next to us. Everyone seemed to have a good time and they were in the mood for charity--they bid on auction items, bought items from the charity table (buy items and 100% of the money goes to charity), got massages, and just enjoyed the day.

There were tons of fun classes too taught by some AMAZING instructors--I took Michelle Hill's class and Stephanie Ackerman's class. Stephanie is the inspiration and main creative mind behind the magazine Home + Heart, formerly known as Homegrown Hospitality, published by CK Media. It was awesome to get the star treatment from her as she sat wit us and chitchatted and made a little mini book for us. Stephanie is also known for her signature doodling and lettering and she made EVERYONE at the event a name tag that she hand doodled!! Wow! Michelle Hill's class was equally fun and she also gave everyone alot of individual attention, joking, and keeping things fun.

I did not get to take every class because I was teaching one at the same time as some of the others. All the projects were really cute and everyone seemed to really enjoy them. And they were FREE! Can't beat that!!

I will post pics of the projects we made tomorrow.

We had so many ways to raise money at the event:
  • Queen of A Lot--donate a LOT of stuff to be auctioned off. Whoever's box raises the most money gets crowned "Queen of Alot" (I was this in 2006!)
  • Queen of Silent Auctions -- Spend the most on silent auction bids and get crowned
  • Queen of Philanthropy -- bring the most in monetary donations and get crowned--the lady who won this raised over $1100 all by herself!!
  • Queen of Handmade Items -- I tied for this one but as I already have a crown and scissors, I passed it on--fetch the most money for handmade items donated to the silent auction and get crowned.
  • Buy items from the donation table--all the money goes to the fire victims
  • Buy items from the catalog table (such as from Laura Miller of Close to My Heart amd Elena of Stampin' Up!)
  • Buy items from Treasure for Charity, Melanie and Elena's store donating 20% of all sales
  • And buying kits from me!! I had past class kits there for sale--sold out of some too! I donated 20% (which came to $50) of all sales to SBR.
"Crowning" at this event also included a pair of Fiskars scissors that were engraved with the title they achieved!!

Just a side note--if you know of a family or individual affected by the CA wildfires from October who is in need of assistance, please nominate them! Send an essay of 400 words or less to Scrapbook Royalty explaining why this family or individual needs our help, including a list of items they need help to purchase. It can be as simple as needing a garden hose or a crib or household tools--whatever kinds of things they need. If the family is chosen, Scrapbook Royalty will use the money they have raised to purchase these items for the family.

Back to the event---there was yummy food, tons of fun, balloons, each table had a different theme and the bathroom--they just go all out! They had a place making donuts on site for dessert after dinner--YUM! And lots of ladies brought scrumptious sweets they made at home to compete for "Queen of Sweets". And The SBR crew made sure we got Starbuck's at tea tie -- if you registered during the early reg period you got a free tall Starbuck's!

Katie had a blast playing with my friend's daughter as well as playing in the childcare area--yes, they had childcare too!!

Pink Pineapple was offering shuttles to their store, just a few exits down the freeway from where we were cropping...

There was SOOOOOO much going on--I only got 1.5 pages done all 15 hours!!! That is crazy!! But I had a blast an my sore and achy muscles are a testament to that. I am so glad our WhoGAS group came out in force. And it was nice to see so many familiar faces and to make new friends as well (hi Shetara!).

Like I said, I'll post project pics later. I brought my camera but literally, there was no time to take pics. I'll have to borrow some links from SBR once they post their pics!!

If you missed out this crop, don't miss out next time! Gte on SBR's e-mail newsletter list. Check out http://scrapbookroyalty.blogspot.com and sign up int he box in the upper left corner of the page.
