On A Roll...

Lots of things this weekend are "on a roll". Yesterday we had pulled pork (yummy!) on a roll with coleslaw and Xaver's mustard dressing. Katie's has been baking up a storm and Matthew has been on a roll destroying the house. Xaver has been rolling around on the couch with upset tummy from yesterday's yummies...And I have been on a roll scrapping! Here are two more class samples for classes coming up in August:

"Totally Wild" 6x6 Mini Book
August 10, 2008
@ The Scrappin' Table

You might have seen this one on display at The Scrappin' Table . I brought it home and added some more fun goodies and details! So you just might want to stop by and check it out again...

"Island Summer" Layout Technique Class
August 2, 2008
@ Scrapping Lounge

This class is overflowing with techniques and fun! Try your hand at masking, Glimmer Mist, stamping, fun with acrylic paint, using Distress Ink, creating handcut accents, playing with KI Memories lace paper, and more! We'll be creating our own custom title in the class using the Quickutz Silhouette - how cool is that?! Here are just a few snapshops of some of the page elements we'll create during the class. To see the whole kit-n-kaboodle you'll have to stop in over at the Scrapping Lounge:

Also, don't miss out on my "Sprockets & Posies" Layouts Class at Collective Journey and the super cute " Sweet Summer" mini book at Scrapping Lounge this month. These are the only two classes I am teaching all month so be sure to stop by these stores and check them out. See you soon!

Glimmer Misting Stickers

Tiny alphabet stickers are readily available at most scrapbook stores in black, white, and even some in color. You know the ones I'm talking about, the ones with typewriter type letters on a little itty bitty rectangle sticker? I like the ones made by Making Memories and EK Success the best.

These stickers are pretty cute on their own but sometimes I feel they just don't "fit" my layout. Yesterday as I was glimmer misting some Prima flowers for a page I was working on it occured to me that I could possibly glimmer mist some of the letters I wanted to use so they'd match the feel of the layout. Here's the "how to":

1. Stick your stickers to a piece of plastic. You can even use the back from an old, empty sticker pack if you have one. You want to make sure the stickers will peel off the plastic later.

2. Spray your glimmer mist as desired. You can use a heat gun to help it dry faster just be careful not to melt the plastic - it can release harmful fumes not to mention mess up your stickers if they get melted into it.

3. Dab off the excess glimmer mist with a paper towel. The mist on the plastic won't dry so make sure you remove it before staining your hands or clothes. Let the stickers dry completely before peeling them from the plastic. Then stick to your project:

I inked these with some distress ink as well to make them look more antiqued like the rest of the page elements. Have fun with this one!!

Gettin' My Scrap On!

I've been scrapping -- woohoo!! I got a couple of layouts and a card done for a DT assignment at Scrapbook Boulevard. Here are some pics:

Here's Katie at the Science Fair. It was her first ever science fair and project and she got FIRST PLACE for her grade! I used Karen Foster stickers and put stickles on them and some Best Creation paper for the background--way old school layout but I had to use those stickers once Katie spotted them in the store!

These are pics of a typical morning with Matthew being crazy and getting into everything. They were taken at the old house. The layout is based on a PageMaps sketch from March 2008. I stamped stars onto some of the buttons using Staz-On.

This page is more of Matthew being a boy. He loves to climb under tables -- just like his dad! Xaver said his mom has a picture of him as a toddler doing this very thing.

Tonight I'll be working on more fun stuff when I crop at The Scrappin' Table! Lots of fun is coming up this weekend--we'll be BBQing and doing lots of family things (did I mention we just got a Wii?!?) so I've got to get all my scrapping and blogging in before then! Have a Happy 4th!

Five Scrappy Secrets to Share

I got tagged by Pammy over at sb.com -- she shared five of her scrappy secrets so now I have to share five of mine. Here goes!

I am going to share five scrap secrets and five cool things. If you read this and feel like it, please make your own list and then post back at my blog so I can see yours :) I WOULD LOVE to see your scrap secrets and cool things!!! You can post on it on your personal blog outside sb.com or here at sb.com!

Five scrap secrets (some you might know but some might be news to you! LOL):
1. I use Snapfish to print my photos because they offer them in matte finish. I love that fingerprints don't show up on matte prints -- it also helps me scrap faster since I don't worry about touching the picture or polishing off fingerprints later.

2. I make ALOT of mistakes on my samples and pages. There are usually torn parts and other boo-boos that I end up covering up. Even when you teach classes your stuff doesn't always come out perfect! LOL It's okay to mess up, to change your mind, and to use ANOTHER piece of paper to cover up a "mistake".

3. Circle punches are probably my all-time favorite tool to turn to when I need an embellishment quick. There is so much you can do with a circle!

4. Paper plates abound in my scrap room -- I get lazy about putting glitter away, especially if it is a color I use alot or that I plan to use again in a few hours or days. I just leave each color of glitter on its own paper plate and stack them (staggered so the bottoms of the plates don't touch the glitter in the plate below) on a shelf until I need it again.

5. My main inspiration comes from scraplifting. I lift from myself, I browse galleries and magazines to spark my interest, and I look at samples in stores to get ideas. Sometimes I see something and get inspired--that gets the creative juices flowing and then jump starts me on the page or project I am trying to create. I think it's okay to scraplift--we all do it, even if it is not consciously. I might see a row of buttons on a layout and then some time later that works its way onto a page or onto a minibook.
Like they say, "there's nothing new under the sun".

Now it's your turn... don't forgot to post here when you do your own list! Let's share our secrets!
