Gotta Share!

bind-it-all inspiration.
I was browsing the web this AM and checking out all of my usual spots. On the Zutter Zisters website I saw that the new October 2008 inspirations are up!

Anyone around the world who loves Bind-It-All can submit their creations to nan@binditall.com and it just might end up online!! I love the projects shown this month, especially Lea Millora Sanders' book with the rich colors and trim details. Imagine my surprise when I saw a creation from Jennifer in Hesperia!!! How cool is that?!

So there is another Jennifer in Hesperia besides me who likes scrapbooking and uses a Bind-It-All. Some investigation is in order and I'll be heading over to the local scrapbook spot, Scrabook Boulevard, this AM anyways so maybe they know her! How fun it would be to meet a new local Bind-It-All friend!

scrapbook royalty.
After that I will heading to several LSS to drop off baskets for Scrapbook Royalty's Cards for Troops campaign. If you want to know where to drop off your cards, please click HERE. You can also mail the and the info is on the Scrapbook Royalty blog.

And then it is going to be a night full of mayhem, frightful scrapping, and of course candy as I head on over to The Scrappin' Table in Placentia to teach the "Spooky" Banner class. This class is PACKED with technique and lots of fabulous details-we are going to have a blast!! I made some extras so if you want to sign up today, we'd love to have you.

Fiskars Five Fridays #9

For whatever I need, I usually end up turning to these five resources to find it. Check them out and see what they have to offer:

1. DaFont.com If I need a font, any font, I try them first. Most fonts are free and they have a HUGE selection. Plus you can search by theme or style too in case you aren’t sure of the font name. Some of my Favorite fonts (I have almost 2000 loaded on my computer and another 1000 on my laptop--ackkk! These are the ones I can remember the names of right now...):

  • Scrypticali
  • Hurry Up
  • Pharmacy
  • A&S Speedway
  • Horseshoes and Lemonade

2. Scrapbook.com Library. I love to search the quotes, titles, and poems for the sayings I use on my pages and in my classes.

3.
PageMaps. If I get stuck on a page, I go here to check out a sketch and get me going creatively.

4. Sprague Lab. Anything I need to know about doing stuff in Photoshop, this is the place to go. They don’t just focus on digital scrapbooking (which I don’t really do). There are great tutorials on color correction and all kinds of other great tips. Plus there are awesome layouts to check out too.

5.
The Wishblading Well. Cool files and tips for users of electronic cutting machines like the Quickutz Silhouette (which I have), Wishblade, Craft Robo, and Pazzles.

Fiskars Fridays BONUS!

Fiskars has great resources online where you can chat with crafters just like yourself while looking for answers, wanting to see what's new, and looking for inspiration.

Fiskars - the main website. There are sketches every month and lots more to check out.
Fiskateers - Crafting Ambassadors for Fiskars
Fiskars Certified Demonstrator Blog - Check out what's going on with the Certified Fiskars Demonstrators around the world (I am one of these too--hehe).

A Jolly Holiday for Reminisce DT Search Contest

Here it goes!! My final entry for the Reminisce DT Search. I created this book as a class I taught at Scrapping Lounge, my first class of 2008:

Covers Spread out to Show diecut paper from Reminisce:

Back Cover:

I loved the diecut papers -- the starburst candy paper and the holiday ornament paper both make up pages in the book. I used 11.5" chipboard circles I had diecut on the Accu-Cut machine and then cutin half. All of the paper inside is Reminisce, cardstock by Bazzill, Glitter Cardstock by Doodlebug. Alpha Stickers are from Making Memories, and the rest of the goodies were from my stash. I made diecuts with Quickutz and Sizzix too.

Best of luck to everyone in the DT search!! Can't wait to see who Reminisce chooses (and I hope I am one of the finalists!!). Now off to teach at Collective Journey tonight...

A Page, A Pineapple, Pho, and Mo'

Here's a page I did this weekend at the little crop at my house with my WhoGAS pals!

I used the Dream Street Papers "Menagerie" collection--love it!! I picked up a couple more pieces of this paper tonight too.

Today I drove out to Now & Then Scrapbooks and dropped off my class sample--yeah, I am teaching a class there!! And I am using the Zutter Bind-It-All in the class to make the book, of course! It is apron shaped, an idea I got from my friend Elena. It folds into an easel for the book inside to rest on but it is all attached so it folds up nice too.

After spending 18 minutes on the phone with Quickutz we got my Silhouette back up and running after I messed up installing a new update. Yeah, it took a little bit but I still love the fact that I can call and leave a message and someone calls me back right away to help me out. And it was worth it to make the fun little whisks in this book!

After that I headed down to Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks in Vista to pick out some cool fun goodies to teach another class!! WOOHOO!! I am making the CUTEST holiday mini book, thanks for to Krisite D for recommending the paper. I can't wait to get started. I also got a GIGA scalloped circle punch that does 3.5" diameter circles--it is bigger than my head! I cost a whopping $24 too and would never even fit in my drawers I am just now realizing but it is super cool and could double as a weapon or a brick if I needed one...

After Pink I met my friend Elena for some Pho. I have never had Pho before and with both kids in tow lets just say it was an "experience". Matt now smells like meat juice. Living so far from Elena I don't get to see her much so it was fun to hang out and chit chat. She shared her fun goodies from the Quick Quotes Private Reserve Weekend she was at this past weekend -- very very fun stuff!!! And of course we talked "SBR" cuz that is what we do!! Matthew wore himself out and he and Katie both passed out in the car as soon as I got on the freeway.

This week I am going to be teaching every night so I am not sure I can keep my blog updated but I will do my very very best!! Matthew has been on a rampage and I think he is starting that terrible two thing a little early so I haven't been as productive as I'd like to be but that is why I stay home I guess, so I can be here with the crazy one and just stay up until 1 am doing my scrappy stuff. Next thing I know he'll be graduating college so I guess I'd better enjoy it now. Oh and Katie's school is being stupid again about the whole GATE thing so at 7am sharp I'll be at the Principal's door tomorrow...oh the joys of being a mom!

Hometown Tourists

We live in an awesome area for tourists and attractions-- Southern California. But do we ever take advantage of the things we have in our own backyard? I'm not talking Disneyland and such. I am talking about cool museums, gardens, historical downtown areas, and other great attractions we take for granted in my family. With all of Xaver's talk of moving out of state over the last year or two it has really got me thinking we need to "see it all" before we make the big move, whenever that may be.

So today we hopped in the car and took a little trip down to explore Old Town Pasadena. Why Pasadena? Well, my friend Trisha was talking about how she wanted to go to The Container Store out in Pasadena just yesterday. I hadn't been for a long long time and at that, the last one I went to was in San Diego. So Pasadena was fresh in my mind!

First I went on their web page and plotted out a little tour of the sights we wanted to see. Gotta think like a tourist, right? Then I printed a map of downtown with addresses of the sites all of which the city web page helped with. Then I realized we would be driving right by Scrap N Yap. Yes, it is a scrapbook store that I have been meaning to visit after hearing rave reviews from Trisha. A newer online scrapping pal of mine, Ching, also started teaching there so I have been hearing things about it here and there. And of course Miss PJ had already scoped it out and filled me in.

Scrap n Yap was great and Elizabeth was so nice and welcoming. I even saw Ching there--she was cropping! I got some really cool Anna Griffin paper for my Christmas cards--everything was 20% off for Scrap Pink--SCORE! I also got some other fun goodies I hadn't yet seen at any of the stores I teach at. It was a nice atmosphere and Xaver really dug the bike shop a couple doors down in the same shopping center.

After that we hit the road to Old Town. This is when we first got there:

We went to the Container Store first where I got this really awesome punch I can't wait to use on a page!!!! I also got some monkey hooks -- 3 for $9.99. Um, I bought a single hook back in San Diego earlier this year at a boutique--ONE hook for $7.99. I was a little PO'd to discover I had been taken advantage of but hey, now I know where to get the hooks myself! I was a little disappointed but The Container Store because I remember it being way cooler but it just might have been a case of time embellishing my memories, you know? I am still quite a bit fonder of the items at Ikea and definitely of the Ikea prices.

Here we are just walking around on Colorado St.:

After the Container Store we did some more window shopping and got gelato at this fun little shop:

Xaver got peach, I got strawberry lemonade flavor, Katie got peanut butter cup and Matt sampled all three! LOL

Katie eyed some yummy candy and fudge, and we even saw what I call the "It's About Time" Bakery. It totally looked like IAT but with baked goods inside. We didn't get pics of the inside but here is the outside of Aux Delices:

We also hit up Blick Art Supplies, a really cool Floral Supply place with cool Christmas decor, some stationary shops, and then kicked back at the park. I got my first Copic Marker at Blick. They were really fun to play with but $5 a pen scared me off so I got just one to try for journaling. I am sure I will like it but you know, gotta be frugal and such these days.

Katie took this pic of us in the park:

These two are so silly together!

After this we made the trek back to the car and stopped on the way home to get me some new clothes. I just let them get all old and thread bare because I can think of a million other thing si would rather spend money on. And I hate buying "fat lady" clothes but I can't go around looking like a bag lady all the time either so I got a couple pairs of jeans and some pajamas. It just so happened they were having a sale and I saved $50 right off the top. And the lady was so nice too--it was a pleasnat experience, which clothes shopping usually is not for me, so that was refreshing.

All in all, it was a fun day! I know we will definitely head back when Xaver's mom comes out to visit because she would just die at that Christmas store. Can't wait to scrap these pics!!
