On this layout I had to find a solution to the problem in the photo -- lots of background yuckiness. We pulled up the carpet in our house since it was thrashed (it was a repo) and the concrete underneath is splotched and shows up in the background of lots of my photos. Yes, that is real life, but sometimes it is rather distracting on a scrapbook page. I had a series of photos of Matthew sitting on the hallway floor listening to the radio. Really I just wanted to see his face and that he had on headphones.
I used a 3" circle punch to punch out the part of the photo that I wanted. It eliminated all that yucky yellow from the glue on the conrete floor. I used a lot of red accents on the page to also pull the colors from Matt's outfit and to draw attention from the yellow parts of the photos. And this page took all of 10 minutes.
You might have noticed that the text on this layout is really the main design element. I was really inspired by Get Creative With Type, an idea book by Brian Tippets. I've been reading it in preparation for a new cycle of Book Club!!!
I've got a new car, our schedule changed with Girl Scouts, and now I can hold Book Club meetings again. Here are all the particulars:
Join us for another fabulous round of Book Club at The Scrappin' Table! Each month we’ll meet to play with new products & techniques, make new friends, and be inspired to create! We’ll be working with text this time, featuring the idea book Get Creative With Type by Brian Tippets.
The book includes a bonus CD filled with wonderful fonts and templates too! Each meeting we will explore a section of the book, try a new technique or product, and leave with a goodie bag for our “homework” assignment. The next month you will bring your completed assignment (or another project) to share. And there are always lots of laughs and conversation to be had as well.
Are you a past Book Club member? Bring a friend to get a special gift from Jennifer at the first Book Club meeting!
Supplies: Glue dots, liquid adhesive, 3D foam squares, inks if you like to ink (brown, green, orange), precision tip scissors.
