I met up with Elena at Reflections at the Hyatt Newport Beach hosted by Scrapbook Oasis. We set up a silent auction to run during their Isle Carnival, a vendor and make n take fair open to the public for $25 admission. The auction benefited the American Heart Association. Since I was working I was unable to take advantage of the fabulous make n takes offered though I made sure to sample some of Stephanie Ackerman's fabulous chocolate chip cookies! I saw good friends, Nan, Anne, Shannon, and PJ and we laughed a ton together. Yuko and Anita brought us dinner (and the most scrumptious Belgium chocolate covered strawberries ever!) and helped with our charitable works--love you two ladies!! Just a night of good times!
Then Elena and I hosted the crop until midnight. It was fun to hang out and chit caht--we are always talking "work" and it is easy to forget to be friends so these rare moments when we can just chill are really fun.
We stayed the night with Cheryl Waters, another amazing, kind, talented, giving, and fun lady. We managed to get some sleep after a few hours of chatting ;)
Breakfast at the Hyatt left alot to be desired--like breakfast! LOL I'm just being honest here. This body can't run on toast and fruit alone so as soon I left the Hyatt I fueled up on Starbuck's breakfast and chai tea. Elena and Cheryl were off to classes and more work. I'm still kind of jealous I could not afford to attend (and had already booked a tons of make n takes at stores) but I hear they are doing Reflections again next year so hopefully I can save up enough moolah to attend. If not, I will be there with Scrapbook Royalty doing what we do best--charitable works!
My first stop of the day was The Scrappin' Table. I did the same make n take all weekend so now I can teach it with my eyes closed. I used the Signs of Spring paper line from Prima--I love the clean look of this line and the bright colors--so very "me"! I also used the new Fiesta flowers, some pom pom trim, and lots of Mommy & Me Page Pebbles from Prima.
So I was at The Scrappin' Table from 10am to about 1230pm, seeing Tiffany, Geenah, Tran, Lorella, and lots of other friendly faces:
Lissa from Scrapbook Adhesives also came out to do some giveaways of their fabulous adhesives--that was cool!! Their 3D Foam Squares work wonders with Prima's flowers. Glue dots, though I love them, have a tendency to ball up or rip off of mulberry paper flowers (like Prima's) so I like to use the Scrapbook Adhesives large foam squares for my flowers--they work PERFECTLY and don't fall off either.
At 1pm I went to Scrappin' In The Hills in Anaheim Hills. All day long my friend April was calling about Quickutz deals at the Expo in San Diego and I was trying to resist! But then I saw the QK sets that were released this weekend while I was at Scrappin' In the Hills--man, are they cute!!! I did a few make n takes and met some other QK Silhouette enthusiasts while at Scrappin In The Hills as well. Love the QK! Owners Cindy and Elaine made me feel at home and it was great chatting with them.
Mary won the prize but she didn't want to be in the pic so here is her fellow cropper Cecilia (above). (BTW, I got the last of my $1000 Deck the Halls Contest prize on Friday in the mail--gonna post it all tomorrow and do a a giveaway--yippee!). After a few hours at the Hills I went back to The Scrappin' Table and did even more make n takes.
Debbie won the Prima goodie from me at The Scrappin' Table! While I was at The Scrappin' Table, I also got to play with some Copic Markers with Dianna K from the Table DT. I have a demo scheduled there for May 17th so I've been experimenting with the markers alot. Dianna makes cards almost exclusively so she was definitely interested in what can be done with the Copics. They are awesome! She also made her first ever mini book at my make n take:
At 8pm I went to the Red Bee in Tustin. My friend Anita was there and called to warn me that there were over 50 people there! Nothing could prepare me for what lay within--fifty 80's clad scrappers!! It was so much fun and everyone was just so funny and upbeat. It was a great place to be! Echo and Randy made me feel right at home, as did Heather from their DT. Yuko and Anita helped me cut more paper (since I wasn't prepared for such a HUGE crowd) and even did the make n take--love you ladies!
That Madonna, I mean, Echo, from the Red Bee! LOL Loved her outfit! Here are some pics of us zuttering and making and taking.
At 11pm I arrived at Scrapper's Cafe in Corona. I think we did the make n take in less than 20 minutes! LOL I was an expert at this point. The ladies at the Cafe were so chipper you would never have known it was so late. Here's Rachel with her prize, in her jammies no less!
We had a blast and owner Carol and her hubby are the sweetest. I finally got home around 130am. Crazy!
I went to Collective Journey to teach my make n take one last time. They had a great group of croppers and I even met a lady who lives in my hometown! More kits and makin and takin:
Tracey and Colleen--I get my Arbonne goodies from Colleen's sister! Small world... She also came to the Royal Slumber Crop and gave hand massages to the attendees--Colleen is super nice!
The MnT at CJ's was a great way to end my weekend. After that, we got yogurt at TCBY since the family came with)...
...and then we spent the evening lounging at home (and playing Animal Crossing City Folk--if you don't know what that is, you don't wanna know. It is a Wii game that is taking up all my free time! LOL)
And that is it in a nutshell!! The proceeds from the make n take benefit Scrapbook Royalty and the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes affects more than half of all the adults in my extended family and my inlaws. I figured this is a way I can help a cause I believe in and address something that touches my life. I am really thankful that I can do these kinds of things through SBR.
Want to make the make n take too? Send a $5 donation plus an SASE (with $2.50 worth of stamps) to Scrapbook Royalty (email me at Jennifer@scrapbookroyalty.com for the address) and I will send you one.
I couldn't let this day end on a sour note so I had to post something besides the post below ;)
Happy Creating!! And I hope you had an action packed National Scrapbook Weekend too!!
