Cookin' At CHA!

I'm getting ready to go to CHA tomorrow but before I go, I wanted to share some goodies. I was recently asked to create a few samples for CHA using Cookbookin's new line of cooking papers. Here are a few of my creations:

So since I haven't been posting my Five Fridays as usual I figure I'd make up for it with a giveaway! Just leave a comment here about the cooking traditions your family has and I'll pick one name on Feb 1, 2009 as the winner! What do you get? Well, you get Cookbookin's Spice It Up Recipe Scrapbooking Kit! This is the one I used on my herb garden page. PLUS you'll get one pack of the coordinating Appetizing Accents dimensional stickers.

Also, check back all week because I will be posting links to my CHA photos EVERY DAY of the show so you won't want to miss that!

Is It Really Girl Scout Cookie Time Again!?

Well, yes it is!! Starting today Girl Scout cookie sales start up again. So those of you who have ben asking about Lemonades and Thin Mints and all of the other yummies Girl Scouts sell just once a year now if you chance to get your hands on some.

Katie is ready and willing to take your order. Just post a comment here or email me if you have my email addy. Her goal is 1500 boxes this year and I think she can do it!

Can't Believe It!

Woooohoo!!! I won the Grand Prize!!! Well, unofficially that is. Quickutz will make the final announcement around Jan 31 and they haven't yet contacted me. But hopefully they are just busy with CHA (they actually should be here in CA right now).

Thanks to everyone who helped push me over the top!! I was calling and emailing up until the last few hours trying to get every last friend and family member to register and vote!! I can't believe that I won by such a narrow margin. I have the flu so I took some Nyquil and went to bed early. I thought for sure I'd be in second or third. X woke me up at 11pm to let me know that I was first!

Thanks again for all of your help everyone here, on WhoGAS, Fiskateers, Scrapbook.com, 2Peas, Urban Anthology, PDW, So Cal Scrap, Zutter Zisters, family, girl scouts, friends, neighbors, and or course FaceBook Friends!!

I could not have done it without you!!

And if I really did win the Grand Prize, look forward to some giveaways!! I've got to see what they send out but I am sure it is awesome. WOOOHOOOOO!!!

P.S.

To answer Cheryl's question in yesterday's comments: I've been busy prepping samples for CHA. I am doing some samples with a fairly new paperline called Cookbookin'. I'll post some sneaks tomorrow! And I have a cold so lots of naps are eating into my social time.

Featured Etsy Shop...

And it is mine!! My shop and custom banners were recently featured on Everything Chic and A Little Bit Vintage. I've been creating custom banners for about 2 years now--it all started when Elena of Scrapbook Royalty asked me to create something for our booth at Scrapbook Expo. And the rest is history! Here are some snapshots of banners I created in the past:

I usually only take one custom order at a time and it takes me about a month to complete. Right now I am working on the most fabulous Wizard of Oz themed banner for a super sweet Wizard of Oz fan.

To find out more about the custom banners I create and to browse my shop, check it out here: Hydrangea Hippo Etsy Shop. And great big THANK YOU to Everything Chic and A Little Bit Vintage for featuring my shop!

Sock It To Poverty

My friend and Scrapbook Royalty's Founder, Elena, is part of the Fiskateer Charity Fiskamittee and every month they will be choosing a different way to help others. January is "Poverty in America Awareness Month" and with that the Fiskateer Charity Fiskamittee is starting 2009 off by focusing on this special cause.

Here are some facts about socks and how they can help "sock it to poverty."

  • Socks are vital to overall health of those living on the streets.
  • Socks are often not donated enough and are greatly appreciated by the recipient.
  • Most homeless and impovershed people do not own shoes that fit properly or are not in good condition. This increases the importance of socks.
  • Many people suffer from diabetes and other ailments and they could benefit from socks with extra support.
  • Not all shelters accept clean used socks so it's important when collecting that we collect new socks.
  • Socks are relatively inexpensive to donate.
  • There are men, women and children that live on the streets and all could benefit with a new pair of socks.

PLEASE SEND Scrapbook Royalty some SOCKS!!

All sizes are needed!

Please send them to:

Scrapbook Royalty

PO Box 910665

San Diego, CA 92191

For more information and to find out different ways you can donate socks please Click Here.

Also I saw Target has socks in the $1 spot again. Kids socks for $1 a pair and larger socks 3 pairs for $2.50. So you don'thave to spent alot to give a little.
