Don't forget the Food Drive!!

Scrapbook Royalty is collecting canned food at Desert Scrappers Retreats!!!

Right now Scrapbook Royalty has partnered with Fiskateers to collect canned food for the homeless and those in need. We always do a raffle to benefit charity at Laura's retreats (thanks Laura!) so this time I am offering one raffle ticket for every 3 cans or boxes of nonperishable food you bring to me at the retreat to donate. If you bring 10 cans, you'll receive a goodie bag! For example, bring 20 cans of food and get 6 raffle tickets and two goodie bags.

We'll also be selling raffle tickets in the traditional sense: $2 per ticket or 20 tickets for $20. The proceeds from the two raffles I am doing will be split equally between Scrapbook Royalty and the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is a disease that has affected nearly every member of my family. Scrapbook Royalty has yet to help a charity regarding this disease so this is our opportunity to make a difference for yet another worthy cause.

Here's a checklist for the retreat:
  • Bring Canned Food. Get a raffle ticket for every 3 cans, goodie bag for every 10 cans.
  • Bring $ for Raffle Tickets. $2 per ticket or 20 tickets for $20.
  • Shop for Scrapbook Royalty loot: and help support our charity. I'll have tote hooks and aprons at the Hydrangea Hippo booth.
  • Shop at Hydrangea Hippo. Kits are Buy Two Get One free, lots of ribbon, stick pins, banner kits, grab bags, and more.
  • Sign Up for Classes. Check out this post for the Paypal buttons and class pics and descriptions. Get a goodie bag for signing up by May 28 and paying online through Paypal.
  • Have fun!

Join Me at Desert Scrappers Retreats May 29-June 1

The whole family is coming with me and I am excited about all the fun we will have. I will be there selling scrappy goodies and kits at my Hydrangea Hippo booth as well as teaching two classes and one make n take.

Just Cracking Up...

...at the way our world works!

I've been super busy getting samples for June classes finished, refining my "Twenty Pages In A Day" class to get prepared for the third time I'll be teaching it, and changing the way I do business. Literally. I am changing the way I do my classes and kits (on the back end, so it won't affect what you're getting in classes - you'll just get more for your money I hope) so I filed a Fictitious Business Name with the County and got a city Home Based Business License (since I make kits at home and have a home office, I figured out this was the way to go). Not even 12 hours after I did all that, on a Friday, I started getting phone calls on Saturday all through the weekend and then a torrential downpour of phone calls today...all wanting to talk to the "owner of Hydrangea Hippo" and sell me insurance, newspaper filing for my business name, some I don't know what they were calling about because they would not tell me what company they were from and called from blocked or private numbers, someone from the BBB called wanting me to join...how on earth do people start "real" businesses, the brick and mortar kind where you're working on a space to get it ready to open, hiring, and all that amidst the barrage of phone calls? The last guy to call today was kind enough to let me know he purchased a list from the County with my name and phone number on it. Sheesh. These really must be hard times if the County is that quick to make a buck selling my name that they only got on FRIDAY!! If only all government functions moved that quickly.

So since I have been constantly interrupted by phone calls today, I have nothing to show you. Until tomorrow...hopefully you're creating and enjoying some:

Happy Crafting!!
